Electric Kart
The electric kart shown on this page is a great engineering project that can be made with simple handtools in any workshop.
Featuring a welding steel frame, a simple chain drive and a disc brake the kart is a very satisfying project to build. We've used
a motor speed controller made by 4QD that allows regenerative braking when the accelerator pedal is lifted. This controller
also allows forward a reverse speeds to be set making it safe for younger drivers. Using a 36V DV motor the kart will run for
about 25 minutes on a full charge.
We've created comprehensive plans showing how to build the kart, we've aslo created a
3D PDF digital model of the kart that can be rotated and zoomed on a computer or tablet screen. There's lots more information
on how to build the kart at www.electric-go-kart.co.uk
