Electric Kart

The electric kart shown on this page is a great engineering project that can be made with simple handtools in any workshop. Featuring a welding steel frame, a simple chain drive and a disc brake the kart is a very satisfying project to build. We've used a motor speed controller made by 4QD that allows regenerative braking when the accelerator pedal is lifted. This controller also allows forward a reverse speeds to be set making it safe for younger drivers. Using a 36V DV motor the kart will run for about 25 minutes on a full charge.
